Cape Town City’s Benni McCarthy is happy to have Travis Graham in his squad despite the player still needing match fitness, although is wary of losing another important midfield player.
The Mother City-based club completed the signing of the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder last week, with the player not playing any professional football for almost two years.
Speaking to the media, McCarthy explained the type of cover that Graham brings to the squad, adding that with Thabo Nodada and Roland Putsche ruled out for the rest of the season, losing Teko Modise also will be a big loss for the Citizens.
“We are going to throw him (Travis Graham) in whenever the opportunity arises because you know with Teko, you’ve got to manage him (in) the best possible way because at the moment he is one of the top players that we have and if we lose a Teko Modise with a Thabo Nodada and a (Roland) Putsche then oh my God, I need to go to Jerusalem to go and pray for serious help because I don’t see how I am going to survive at the rate that we are going and losing so many players,” McCarthy told the media.
City will play Mamelodi Sundowns this evening at 19:30.
