Former Kaizer Chiefs defender, Mohammed Ouseb, believes that internal changes have affected Amakhosi’s league form this season.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma ahead of the Soweto Derby, the former Namibian international attributed Chiefs’ disappointing league form to the internal changes that have taken place at the club.
“As champions, we expected Chiefs to do better. They had a very good season and we expected them to continue doing well. I don’t know what the reason is for their struggles... is it the change of coaches?” Ouseb said.
However, 'Slice' defended Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela, when highlighting Chiefs’ lack of success this season and insisted that the former Free State Stars coach needs time to prove his true worth.
“For me, two or three seasons back, Steve Komphela was one of the local coaches that I thought would come in and bring the changes that would benefit Chiefs,” Ouseb continued.
"We all make changes for good reasons, but they don’t always show in the beginning, while in some situations it can have a good effect from the word go.
"I think the changes made have a little effect and that’s why we’re probably struggling in the league,” he concluded.
