Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that Bongani Zungu and Rashid Sumaila, have been cleared by the medical team ahead of the team’s crucial league game against Kaizer Chiefs tonight.
The Brazilians revealed earlier this week that Sumaila and the team’s captain, Alje Schut, are some of the players that are doubtful for the game against Chiefs.
Sumalia has been recovering from the hamstring pull he suffered against Maritzburg United in the team’s last league game in December, while Zungu picked up a knock during the side’s recent trip to Zambia.
“There’s some relief in the Mamelodi Sundowns camp ahead of the match against Kaizer Chiefs, as two of the four injured players received a green light and two to undergo another fitness test.
"Bongani Zungu and Rashid Sumaila have been cleared by the medical team. However Alje Schut and Cuthbert Malajila must still undergo a late fitness test on match day to determine their availability for the crucial league encounter.
"Tickets to this titanic clash are selling fast as almost 20 000 have been reported sold on Wednesday night. Sundowns supporters have been urged to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment,” the club’s official website revealed.
“Masandawana, go out and get your tickets now as we have to dominate the stands for our first home game of 2014. It doesn’t come much bigger than this and you don’t want to be left outside.
“There are still a few who have not exchanged their old tickets to the new date and we also urge those to do so, as only the ones printed January 23 will be allowed entry into the stadium,” Sundowns PRO, Kabelo Mosito, told sundownsfc.co.za.
The club’s official website revealed that Computicket outlets and Shoprite stores will give a free exchange or a full refund for tickets with the original date of last year.
The top-of-the-table clash was initially scheduled to take place on November 23, but was moved to December 11 and then January 28 before it was moved to January 23.
