A Zimbabwean forward left a lasting impression with his performance for FC Platinum against Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League.
The Zimbabwean side drew 2-2 with the Buccaneers in their Champions League Group B match at Orlando Stadium on Friday night.
During that match, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza handed forward, Perfect Tatenda Chikwende, his debut for the team.
The 24-year-old provided an assist for the Zimbabwean team’s second goal to cap off what had been a brilliant night for him.
Mapeza, a former Ajax Cape Town player, has lauded Chikwende for his impressive showing against the Buccaneers.
“I normally do not want to give credit to one player because we play as a team, but Chikwende was just outstanding for us. I hope his form will continue even when the local league commences, later on, this month. We brought him (to) FC Platinum because we knew he was talented and a good fit for our team. I expected it, but what made this special is the fact that he rose to the occasion on his debut by providing an assist. We had confidence in the player and it was a good decision to include him ahead some of the old faces,” Mapeza has been quoted as saying in Zimbabwean media.
