Bafana Bafana are set to meet hosts Zambia in the semi-finals of the Cosafa Cup after the latter claimed a 3-1 win over Mozambique on Sunday.
Chipolopolo opened the scoring through a penalty from Bornwell Mwape 13 minutes in while Jimmy Chisenga and Mukuka Mulenga extended their advantage. Mozambique pulled a goal back through David Manjare but Zambia had done enough to progress.
Zambia started on the front foot and just 13 minutes in Festus Mbewe was brought down in the area. The forward had to go off for some treatment but Mwape took responsibility and rifled home from the spot.
Manjare looked dangerous at the other end and tested the goalkeeper with fierce volley seven minutes later.
It seemed just a matter of time before the hosts would strike again and Chisenga would be the one to do so when he fired a magnificent free-kick past the helpless goalkeeper.
Mwape almost added a third just before the break but he was unable to find a way past the goalkeeper with his shot from the edge of the area.
Mulenga showed his potential with a driving run in the 56th minute but he was off target with his final while Mbewe went closer with an attempt soon after only to see it come back off the post.
A third was on the way for Zambia though and in the 76th minute Mulenga danced past his defenders before firing past the goalkeeper.
Mozambique were given some late hope when Manjare buried his overhead kick but the goal came a little too late as Zambia stood firm to see out the result.
