Sundowns Invite Goalkeeper For Trial
Mamelodi Sundowns are set to give Zama Dlamini a trial with the side. Dlamini played for Thanda Royal Zulu in the NFD this season, however, sources at the Richards Bay outfit confirmed to the Siya crew that the player was last seen 'a few weeks ago'.
“I think it was three weeks ago when I last saw the guy here. From what I understand there was an issue between him and the club. I don’t know if he was suspended or not but he is not here anymore. He is a good boy and I think he will be fine wherever he is,” a source at Thanda revealed.
News reaching the Siya crew is that a trial has been lined up for the 22-year-old at the title-chasing Chloorkop outfit. Sundowns could face a goalkeeping crisis due to injuries, as was recently reported by the Siya crew.
Wayne Sandilands has been ruled out for at least six weeks, after injuring his ankle in the game against Platinum Stars last week. Belgian goalkeeper, Glenn Verbauwhede, is still working his way back to full fitness, following his Achiles tendon operation earlier this season.
Kennedy Mweene, who recently recovered from injury, was seen wearing protective headgear in the game against University of Pretoria last weekend. A source close to Dlamini confirmed to the Siya crew that the player is set to try his luck at Sundowns, as the team is looking for cover goalkeeper for Mweene and Thela Ngobeni.
The club’s other goalkeeper, Dennis Onyango, is spending the 2013/14 season on loan at Wits.
