Ajax Cape Town's U19 squad took part in the 2014 Terborg Tournament in Gelderland, Holland, this past weekend, and managed to finish as the tournament's fourth best team.
The tournament consisted of 10 teams from Europe, and also integrated teams from Brazil,South Africa and Mexico.
Friday saw the Urban Warriors begin their campaign when they took on Feyernoord FC, and came away as 1-0 winners with Ziyaad Eksteen on the score sheet.
In the following fixture, Ajax Cape Town beat the Mexican national U19 team 1-0 ,with Tashreeq Morris managing to get the odd goal. The win meant they topped their group with maximum points from two games.
Ajax then faced another Dutch outfit, Graafschap, and won 2-1 thanks to goals from Justin Jacobus and Ezra Walian who was a guest player from Ajax Amsterdam.
Even though they had lost 1-0 in their final group stage game against Atletico Mineiro, Ajax managed to top their group with nine points.
In last year’s tournament, Ajax met Fluminense in the semis, winning 1-0. It was the same affair this time around, however Ajax were on the losing side going down by one goal.
Ajax then met Atletico Mineiro again in the third and fourth place play-off, but lost 1-0 to finish in fourth spot.
