You Choose Your Team Of The Week
Over the past week, there were some ABSA Premiership encounters, however, all the attention was on the Nedbank semi-finals which caused much controversy, especially amongst the Kaizer Chiefs faithful.
On Tuesday, April 17, Mamelodi Sundowns extended their lead on top of the log standings after a 1-0 victory against Golden Arrows.
On Saturday, April 21, Kaizer Chiefs hosted Free State Stars at Moses Mabhida stadium. Harris Tchilimbou took the lead in the early stages of the match to put Ea Lla Koto in the driving seat. Amakhosi failed to equalise, as Luc Eymael's charges went 2-0 ahead with Tchilimbou getting a brace to secure their side in the final of the Nedbank Cup.
On Sunday, April 22, Mamelodi Sundowns travelled away to KwaZulu-Natal as they faced Maritzburg United in the second semi-final. From the onset, the game provided much entertainment as expected. Downs took the lead in the second minute with a goal that came from Gaston Sirino. However, the Team of Choice did not sit back as they fought as good comeback with goals from Lebohang Maboe, Mxolisi Kunene and Fortune Makaringe to win 3-1.
In an ABSA Premiership match, Bidvest Wits hosted Polokwane City. Rise and Shine struck first in the second half of the game to go ahead, however, in the dying minutes, the home side managed an equaliser to secure a point.
