You Choose The Team Of The Week
Soccer Laduma’s ‘Team of the Week’ is a feature in each and every Soccer Laduma edition, highlighting the top performers from the Premier Soccer League clubs.
Selections are based on the performances of players in the past weekend's Telkom Knockout Round last 16 tie as well as an Absa Premiership fixture.
Orlando Pirates overcame a resilient University of Pretoria outfit in the Telkom Knockout clash on Friday night, registering a 2-1 win after extra time at Orlando Stadium. The Buccaneers took the lead through Thabo Rakhale six minutes before the end of the first half from a long-range shot into the top corner. Sammy Troughton’s charges came back strongly in the second stanza and equalised almost immediately through a headed goal by Thabo Mnyamane in the 55th minute. With the match looking destined for a penalty shootout, Ayanda Gcaba fired home a beautiful volley in the 118th minute to steal a victory and book a quarterfinal clash with Maritzburg United.
In the only league fixture of the weekend, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic played it out to a 0-0 draw at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Saturday afternoon.
The team will always be set up in a standard 4-4-2 formation, selected by Soccer Laduma's team of respected journalists. The Soccer Laduma journos are currently in deliberation over this week’s selections. In the meantime we want to hear from you who you think should be in the Soccer Laduma ‘Team of the Week’.
Every Monday you will get the chance to post your ‘Team of the Week’. See how close you get to the one which will appear in the new Soccer Laduma on Wednesday.
