Ghanaian striker, Mohammed Yakubu, is likely to complete his move to Maritzburg United next week and will undergo a medical on Tuesday.
The Siya crew revealed earlier this week that the forward was training with the Team of Choice as he looked to earn himself a deal in Pietermaritzburg, and it seems that he has done enough to convince coach Ernst Middendorp and his technical team.
Maritzburg’s operations manager, Quintin Jettoo, has explained to the Siya crew that the 24-year-old will undergo his medical tests next week.
Jettoo said, “Yakubu is set to land here on Friday and will then have his medical with us on Tuesday. Hopefully we’ll have things sorted by the end of next week.”
‘Yak’, who was the top scorer for his club, Ashanti Gold, in Ghana last season, was thought to be on the verge of a move to Orlando Pirates earlier in the month although the proposed transfer fell through.

Middendorp will be hoping to have the Ghanaian on board to fill the vacant gap left by forward, Cuthbert Malajila, who has joined Mamelodi Sundowns.
