Former Orlando Pirates defender Thando Mdluli is unlikely to sign with Wits after the side clinched a deal with Thapelo Tshilo.
Mdluli has spent over two weeks training at the Braamfontein-based outfit. He impressed Clive Barker during his trial with the team. But following the club’s decision to sign Tshilo on a six-month long deal without undergoing a trial, Mdluli is unlikely to be offered a contract.
“The player was doing well during his trial. The coach was very impressed with him. But the club has now signed Tshilo. The coach spoke to the player and promised to have a chat with him next week. He was surprised to hear that Tshilo has been signed ahead of him,” a source in the Wits camp told Soccer-Laduma.
Mdluli is hoping to make a return to topflight football after spending the past few seasons in the NFD. He has already had a stint at The Students in his professional career.
