With recent reports in the media suggesting that Mandla Masango is strongly linked with a move to Wits, the club’s CEO Jose Ferreira put a call through to the Siya crew to set the record straight.
The 24-year-old dribbling wizard made his debut for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2007/08 season, but has not really lived up to his billing. He has seen little action over the years and has only made two substitute appearances in the league this season.
In his chat with the crew, Ferreira made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that Masango is not on their wanted list, saying, “We made an approach to Kaizer Chiefs 18 months ago with an enquiry about Masango, but nothing came of it. Since then we’ve not spoken to Chiefs, the agent or the player. There’s no truth to the rumours that we are interested in him.”
While there may be other teams in the hunt for the player’s signature, Wits have quite clearly moved quickly to distance themselves from the player.
