Contrary to some reports in the media, Matthew Booth has not passed a medical with Wits.
A media outlet recently reported that Booth had passed his medical, in view of signing for the Clever Boys. The 36-year-old is a free agent after leaving Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season.
However, the Siya crew has been informed from two reliable sources that the defender has not undergone any medical with the club and that no deal has been agreed on, just yet.
.
Booth’s agent, Paul Mitchell, first explained that the strapping defender isn’t even in the country. He said, “He’s out of the country on holiday, mate. He’s only expected back at the end of this month. I don’t know where that story came from.”
Wits’ CEO, José Ferreira, also categorically denied that any medical has taken place. He said, “Booth has never seen a Wits doctor.”
The Siya crew reported earlier in the week that Booth could join Wits ahead of the new season. Although, as it stands, the move is not as close to being completed as previously thought.
Soccer-Laduma will continue to monitor the situation closely.
