Big Three Watch As Wits Risk Losing Defender
Wits Defender Monitored By The Big Three
The PSL’s big guns are monitoring the situation with one of the defenders at Bidvest Wits whose contract is not far from over.
As reported in edition 1072 of Soccer Laduma, Wits are risking losing Sifiso Hlanti on a free, according to sources close to the club.
Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have all been linked with the Bafana Bafana international in recent months. The defender has been one of the key players for coach Gavin Hunt’s team since joining the side from AmaZulu in 2016.
As confirmed by a source close to the club, the 28-year-old left-back has attracted interest from a number of PSL clubs that have been impressed with his fine performances.
“There is interest in the player from a number of clubs in the PSL. The clubs are monitoring him and his situation at Wits with interest,” said the source.
The Newcastle-born player’s contract with the Sturrock Park outfit is set to expire in June 2019, according to the records of the Siya crew.
Should the Students fail to tie down the player on a new deal in the next seven months, he will be eligible to sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January.
There has been no official confirmation from Wits about any contract renewal that has been agreed to by the club and the player.
