SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams says he has been enjoying his time in the Bafana Bafana camp so far.
The talented young goalkeeper is one of five uncapped players that are part of Gordon Igesund’s squad to face Morocco tonight. The call-up comes after many people had been calling for his selection following his impressive performances for SuperSport United. He is the reigning PSL Young Player of the Season and has set his sights on making a name for himself in national colours.
He told Safa’s official website, “It has been awesome. When we got the hotel the other day I was sitting by the poolside with Itu (Itumeleng Khune) and he told me a lot of things, not just about football but also about off the field stuff. He told me how to present myself in public because people will be watching my every move. And for me that is profound coming from our captain and number one keeper in the country."
He went on to thank the national team coach, Gordon Igesund, for calling him up to the squad, saying, "The first day we got here (in Morocco) he welcomed all of us, it was a good touch because most coaches don’t do that. He told us to have fun but work hard at the same time. And I should also thank him for giving me this opportunity to be here.”
