The Amakhosi come off a 2-0 win over AS Vita in the Caf Champions League, but were eliminated from the competition with a 3-2 aggregate score line. They will be high on confidence playing against the struggling Abafana Bes’thende, who were beaten 1-0 by Wits in the league on the weekend.
It is a David v Goliath encounter where, at FNB Stadium, Chiefs are expected to walk all over their opponents, who have conceded a whopping 39 goals in 22 games. If Chiefs emerge victorious, they will open up a three-point gap between them and Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the league standings, with one game in hand. It would make the fixture between Chiefs and Sundowns a crucial one for both teams.
For Shaun Bartlett’s side, a loss tonight could pile more misery on them, with many already touting them to be outright favourites for relegation to the National First Division.
