Top V Bottom Tonight

Kaizer Chiefs are up against Golden Arrows tonight in a match that looks set to give an indication of who will win the league, and who will go down.

The Amakhosi come off a 2-0 win over AS Vita in the Caf Champions League, but were eliminated from the competition with a 3-2 aggregate score line. They will be high on confidence playing against the struggling Abafana Bes’thende, who were beaten 1-0 by Wits in the league on the weekend.

It is a David v Goliath encounter where, at FNB Stadium, Chiefs are expected to walk all over their opponents, who have conceded a whopping 39 goals in 22 games. If Chiefs emerge victorious, they will open up a three-point gap between them and Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the league standings, with one game in hand. It would make the fixture between Chiefs and Sundowns a crucial one for both teams.

For Shaun Bartlett’s side, a loss tonight could pile more misery on them, with many already touting them to be outright favourites for relegation to the National First Division.

Stuart Baxter’s team will be minus the services of Itumeleng Khune, Reyaad Pieterse and Knowledge Musona, who are still nursing their respective injuries.
