There are two clear frontrunners for the award at present as Rodney Ramagalela and Percy Tau of Polokwane City and Mamelodi Sundowns both find themselves on 11 goals each, although they are within catching distance for a couple of other players.
Baroka’s Gift Motupa has nine goals to his name going into Bakgaga’s last four matches, and SuperSport United’s Evans Rusike has five games to try and add to his current tally of eight goals so far.
Khama Billiat is also in with an outside chance should he stay fit, with seven goals in just 14 appearances, he is averaging 0.5 goals per game – the best ratio for any player with more than one goal in the entire division.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers’ top scorer this season is Amigo Memela who has only five goals from 18 matches, while Ryan Moon is the Amakhosi’s best finisher with only four goals in his 12 matches.
There are five other players – Aubrey Modiba, Siphelele Magubane, Mhlengi Cele, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Walter Musona – on six goals each, however, they would need a really strong late push if they were to catch Ramagalela or Tau.
