Itumeleng Khune's path is increasingly pointing towards playing football in Europe. Khune is still, at 25 years old, a youngster in goalkeeping terms, but at this point in his career he appears already to have conquered everything that South African domestic soccer can offer.
Bafana have capped him 56 times and South African's are all aware of his abilities. In terms of the world game we also know that if a player wants to prove his worth, it ultimately has to be done in Europe's top leagues.
African keepers have not had the same impact as outfield players from this continent in Europe’s top tiers. One major hindrance for Khune's admitted dream to play in the European arena is his stature and the subsequent problems he has dealing with crosses while under pressure.
We won't expect Khune to sign immediately for a Champions League contender, but we could expect him to do well for team in the less physical Spanish or Portuguese leagues. Khune will develop in the right conditions at the right club, but a lot depends on where he lands in Europe if he goes.
If you were Khune's agent, what team in Europe would you be looking at and why?
