The latest African club rankings have been updated with Kaizer Chiefs moving closer to Mamelodi Sundowns as they continue their run at the top of the Absa Premiership league standings.
Despite competing in neither the CAF Champions League nor the CAF Confederations Cup competition, Chiefs’ position on footballdatabase.com’s African rankings system is continuously improving.
Amakhosi have previously been ranked at 20th position on the ranking system, however, with their current run at the top of the Absa Premiership league standings, they have now found themselves in 18th position, moving closer and closer to Sundowns.
After a 2-0 defeat to Chiefs on the weekend, Sundowns have dropped one spot, from 12th position, to 13th.
Bidvest Wits also moved from second highest ranked South African club, to third highest at 20th position after being overtaken by Chiefs, while Orlando Pirates have also dropped from 21st to 23rd as they struggle to find their form in the league campaign.
