While transfer fees are never confirmed by clubs in South Africa, the Siya crew did some digging to see how much was paid for players such as Teenage Hadebe and Rivaldo Coetzee.

PSL clubs, aside from Mamelodi Sundowns - aren’t known for spending big in the transfer window as they largely opt for free transfers and swap deals, however this year there was some money changing hands as teams looked to bolster for the 2017/18 season.

Sundowns, as usual, were the big spenders as they spent more than R13m on their transfer targets, although the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Baroka, SuperSport United, Maritzburg United and Cape Town City are all known to have dipped into their pockets.

According to Siya sources, Sundowns spent R10m on Coetzee and around R3.5m on George Lebese, and while Oupa Manyisa was still in contract with Orlando Pirates, that figure remains unknown.

Baroka were the dark horses of the window as they forked out upwards of R2m in order to bring Siphelele Ntshangase on board, while Maritzburg decided to spend around R3m on two signings brought in from outside South Africa.

Chiefs are believed to have paid around R600k to prise Teenage Hadebe away from Chicken Inn earlier this year, with SuperSport paying a fee of under R500k to KuPS in Finland for Azubuike Egwuekwe.

City are thought to have spent R300k on Mozambique captain, Jeitoso, and while figures were not confirmed, Transfermarkt says that Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates paid about R3.8m and R6m for Amr Gamal (loan fee) and Musa Nyatama respectively.

If you have R200 000 in your account you do qualify to scrutinize other people's spending... If not sit down and forget about celebrating monies you will never smell or touch. None of us here spend money on any player/s.
