Moroka Swallows' attacking midfielder, Lerato Chabangu could be a free agent at the end of the current season should he fail to secure a deal with the Dube Birds within the next three-and-a half months.
The playmaker’s current contract with the Soweto outfit will expire at the end of June 2015, and Siya sources have indicated that no formal talks have taken place between the club and player to extend his stay.
Siya sources close to the player indicated that Bidvest Wits had emerged as possible suitors for the 29-year-old however no formal discussions have taken place.
Sources further revealed that the Chabangu was holding out on making any long-term commitment and waiting for the end of the season to make any decision on his future, pending on Swallows surviving the relegation axe.
The Dube Birds currently find themselves in the bottom two of the PSL, with only seven league games remaining to ensure they preserve their PSL status.
Another possible stumbling block for the midfielder could be his history of ill-discipline.
Previously the crew reported that sources revealed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns man and a teammate were reprimanded by the Birds management following a night out during Swallows' mid-season camp in Durban.
