Weekend Report For The Bafana Boss

It was certainly a quiet weekend for South African players abroad, who are in and around the Bafana Bafana setup, with many players still on their winter break, while others were sitting on the bench, out of the squad, or made brief appearances.

All eyes are currently on May Mahlangu, who is now a free agent after his contract with Helsingborgs expired, as well as Dino Ndlovu who has been linked with a return to South Africa and has not been included in Maccabi Haifa's squad recently.

With the winter break still in effect over the weekend for players in Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and Russia - the likes of Siyanda Xulu and Ayanda Patosi, to name a few, remained out of action.

Kamohelo Mokotjo has been in South African with PEC Zwolle as they prepare for the second-half of their season, and his club went down 4-1 to Stuttgart in a friendly at the weekend.

Only a few players in England were involved in the action over the weekend, but they endured disappointing results.

Bongani Khumalo (Doncaster Rovers, England, loan): Played in Saturday’s 1-0 away loss to Blackburn Rovers and received a yellow card. 24 starts, one goal. Team Position: 22/24

Tokelo Rantie (Bournemouth, England): Came on after 64 minutes of Saturday’s 3-0 away loss to Wigan Atheltic. 10 starts, five sub appearances, one goal. Team Position: 16/24 (transferred from Malmo, Sweden – 23 starts, five sub appearances, 10 goals)

Dean Furman (Doncaster Rovers, England): On the bench. 19 starts, two sub appearances, one goal. Team Position: 22/24

Kagisho Dikgacoi (Crystal Palace, England): Not in match day squad. 15 starts. Team Position: 20/20

Dino Ndlovu (Maccabi Haifa, Israel): Not in match day squad. Eight starts, seven sub appearances, two goals. Team Position: 4/14

Anele Ngcongca (Racing Genk, Belgium): Winter break. League resumes January 19. 29 starts, one sub appearance. Team Position: 6/16

Thulani Serero (Ajax Amsterdam, Netherlands): Winter break. League resumes January 19. 18 starts, five sub appearances, three goals. Team Position: 1/18

Kgosi Ntlhe (Peterborough United, England): Not in match day squad. 23 starts, four sub appearances, two goals. Team Position: 6/24

Daylon Claasen (Lech Poznan, Poland): Winter Break. League resumes February 16. Seven starts, one sub appearance, two goals. Team Position: 3/16

Darren Keet (KV Kortrijk, Belgium): Winter break. League resumes January 18. 24 starts. Team Position: 7/16
