Let Battle Commence! - The Final Fixtures For Pirates, Downs & Co...

We’re officially into the Absa Premiership’s title run-in, but who do South Africa’s top teams have to face if they’re to lift the title come the end of the season?

Orlando Pirates currently top the table as things stand, though they only lead Mamelodi Sundowns on goal difference as both sides sit on 40 points with seven and eight games to play respectively.

Cape Town City are third with 39 points – though have the worst goal difference (+9) of the top four – while Bidvest Wits’ recent form has seen them slip from top spot to fourth on 38 points from 22 matches. 

SuperSport United are still in with an outside chance after picking up 35 points from their 22 games so far, while Polokwane City and Kaizer Chiefs (who are sixth and seventh) are even biggest long shots with regards to who can challenge for the title.

Several of the Absa Premiership’s top sides still have to play each other over the course of what will be an exciting few weeks in the South African top-flight, with the Buccaneers and Brazilians set to battle it out in what could potentially be a title-deciding fixture at the end of next month.
