Cape Town City’s next Absa Premiership encounter will be another top of the table clash when they host Kaizer Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium, with the hope to secure nothing less than three points.
City claimed a vital point in their league encounter against title rivals, Bidvest Wits at the Cape Town Stadium last night, April 19, which ensured that they held on to their number one spot on the Absa Premiership league standings.
However, in their upcoming league encounter, the Mother City-based club will be hosting third-placed Kaizer Chiefs, who are trailing just one point behind Head Coach Eric Tinkler’s side.
Amakhosi will travel to the Cape Town Stadium next week, April 25 and City will be looking for nothing less than three points on the night. Their aim will be to ensure that the Soweto giants are unable to leapfrog the Mother City-based club and take over the number one spot on the league standings.
Speaking in a post-match press-conference, Head Coach Tinkler admitted that he does not want to put pressure on his players but will have nothing other than a plan to beat the Glamour Boys next week.
“I don’t want to put the pressure on the players like I said – we now turn our focus to Chiefs and again it goes to that philosophy that we’ve had since the beginning of the season. We don’t plan for any game for a draw, we plan to beat whoever we play and that will remain,” Tinkler told the media.
