Goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands is on course to return to first team action at Orlando Pirates as he continues to get game-time in the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge team.
After playing for Bucs’ MDC side against Golden Arrows on September 16, Sandilands was again in action for the reserve team on Monday against Mamelodi Sundowns as the teams drew 1-1.
Siyabonga Mpontshane is cementing his place as the number one goalkeeper under Head Coach Milutin Sredojevic at Bucs this season after playing in seven consecutive league matches to date, since taking over from Sandilands after the first match of the season against Highlands Park.
With Bucs preparing to host Golden Arrows in their next match scheduled for October 03, Sandilands would hope that he has been doing enough in the MDC to get a recall to the starting line-up for the first team.
Meanwhile, Brilliant Khuzwayo has made progress on his road to full recovery from injury as confirmed by the club, while Jackson Mabokgwane is also fighting for a starting berth at the Soweto giants, as the competition for places in the club's goalkeeping department intensifies.
