Maritzburg United goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters has become the first PSL player to join up with Lotto Italia.
Walters, who was unable to help Maritzburg avoid an early Telkom Knockout defeat, will be wearing Lotto boots this season, becoming an ambassador for the brand.
The Maritzburg shot-stopper joins the likes of Mohamed Sissoko, Jordi Gomez, Luca Toni and Giuseppe Rossi on the Lotto roster, and he is hoping that more players in South Africa will follow him.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Walters said, “I’ll be wearing Lotto boots this season and so far it’s been going well, I’m a brand ambassador for them and I hope to see more South African players join me soon.”
Meanwhile, Alberto Fraticelli, the Marketing and Communication Director at Lotto, spoke of his pride at having Walters involved.
He said, “We are very proud about this new agreement with Shu-Aib Walters, a prominent figure in South African and international football. Shu-Aib is a talented champion who will be able to put the excellence of Lotto’s special materials and stylish Italian design to the best possible use, and we are sure that our partnership will see many successes that will be of great satisfaction to both parties.”
Lotto sponsor a number of teams around the world, with Queens Park Rangers and Italian side Genoa both sponsored by the Italian sportswear brand.
