Following a third place finish in last season’s Absa Premiership, Platinum Stars captain, Vuyo Mere, has said that he’s looking forward to an exciting challenge as his team prepares to take part in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Dikwena’s league position earned them a place in the continental competition and Mere is looking forward to the new season, where his team will come up against some of the best teams on the continent.
“It’s an exciting challenge if you look at the season ahead,” he told journalists. “We are starting with games against good teams.”
The 32-year-old went on to say that he hopes that his team can start the season off on a positive note in order to gather momentum as they head onto the continental stage.
“If we can do well in the first games that will give us the confidence going into the new season, where we will also play in Africa - which is another challenge on its own. It’s an exciting challenge,” the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender explained.
