Spurs Sign Pirates’ Mthimkhulu
National First Division outfit, Witbank Spurs, have snapped up Orlando Pirates defender, Vusi Mthimkhulu, on a loan deal for the new season.
This is the second occasion in which the cash-strapped club has utilised the Katlehong-born player. Back in 2009/10, Mthimkhulu featured in 16 league and cup matches for Siyavutha.
Playing alongside him in those days was the veteran Phuti Mohafe, who is now one of Spurs’ co-coaches, and the man that confirmed the news to Soccer Laduma.
“Mthimkhulu is already with us,” Mohafe said. “He’ll definitely boost our defence. We have also signed a small boy, an attacking midfielder by the name of Mduduzi Sibeko to replace Sici Shelembe. He came from the Mpumalanga Provincial U21 side.”
Although Spurs’ long-serving midfielders, Patrick and Peter Mubayiwa, are still on the club’s books, they are not yet able to play due to work permit problems.
“The Zimbabwean twins are waiting for the Home Affairs,” he concluded.
