Maritzburg United have bolstered their goalkeeping department by adding Virgil Vries to their roster.
The Namibian shot-stopper has impressed Maritzburg coach Ernst Middendorp and his goalkeeping team led by Filemon Kanalelo, while on trial with the team, and subsequently landed himself a new PSL deal.
The 23-year-old confirmed to the Siya crew that he penned a deal with the Team of Choice on Thursday.
“I signed yesterday. I think you can call them for further details about the contract. I came here with my lawyer and he assisted me,” said Vries.
Vries returns to the PSL for a second stint, having played for Golden Arrows during the 2011/12 season, before going on loan to Carara Kicks halfway through that season.
The Namibian national team first-choice keeper will compete with former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters for the number one jersey at the club. They also have former Orlando Pirates and Mpumalanga Black Aces goalkeeper, Francis Chansa, on their books.
