Kaizer Chiefs’ Virgil Vries has asked the Amakhosi to have faith this season, with the new signing eager to be part of a resurgence at Naturena.
The 29-year-old completed his move to Kaizer Chiefs earlier this week after being released by Baroka at the end of last season, and he has now set his heart on helping the Glamour Boys return to winning ways after a trophy drought.
Chiefs are now back at training as they begin their preparations for the new season, with new signings such as Khama Billiat having already reported for work ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Vries, who will battle it out with Itumeleng Khune for the number one spot, told the club’s official website, “I want to be part of a squad that will bring back the glory days, because one day in the future, I want to sit in a chair and reflect, ‘That’s what we achieved.’ I want to be remembered as being part of a great Amakhosi squad.
“We will work hard and put a smile on your face. We know that the three years of trophy drought was not easy. Please come out in your numbers to support us. We will make you happy, it’s going to be a good season.”
Chiefs are still on the lookout for a new head coach at this point, with Stuart Baxter now believed to be their first choice.
