Bucs Legend Justified About Pule's Form?

Vincent Pule is proving to be one of the players to look out for this season, judging by his performances for Orlando Pirates so far.

For many in the football fraternity, it came as no surprise that Bafana Bafana Head Coach, Stuart Baxter, rewarded the former Bidvest Wits player with a call-up to the South African senior national team for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Libya on Saturday.

In a recent interview with the Siya crew, former Pirates striker Andries Sebola lauded Pule for his contribution to Milutin Sredojevic’s team, with ‘Local is Lekker’ promising Mzansi football fans that they are going to hear more about the player.

Pule is one of the players with impressive attacking statistics in the PSL from the matches played so far this season.

Only Kaizer Chiefs’ Khama Billiat with his 17 shots who is ahead of Pule (16 shots0 in this category.

However, in terms of the shots on target, Pule is level with both Billiat and SuperSport United’s Evans Rusike – with all three players having had shots on target six times.  

Pule has an average of 2.26 shots taken outside the box and is behind five players in this category, namely Thabo Moseki (Baroka), Teboho Mokoena (SuperSport United), Danny Phiri (Golden Arrows), Augustine Mulenga (Pirates) and Emiliano Tade (AmaZulu).    

Pule averages 3.62 per 90 minutes and in this category, he is behind Thabo Moseki, Mwape Musonda (Black Leopards), Justin Shonga (Pirates), Ayanda Patosi (Cape Town City), Emiliano Tade and Teboho Mokoena.

Pule has an impressive 84.8% final third passing accuracy and is behind on this category only to Tebogo Tlolane (Chippa United, 93.5%), Lindokuhle Mbatha (Highlands Park, 91.7%), Mthokozisi Dube (Pirates 90.5%), Kurt Lentjies (Chippa, 86.4%) and Thabo Nodada (Cape Town City, 85.0%). 

In the category of open play, crosses per 90 minutes, Pule is behind only to Chiefs’ Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Pirates’ teammate Thabo Matlaba, Cape Town City’s Bradley Ralani, as well as Marks Munyai and Rodney Ramagalela from Black Leopards and Polokwane City respectively.

Meanwhile, in a friendly match against AmaZulu on Wednesday afternoon, Pule scored one of the goals as Baxter’s men beat the Durban-based side 2-0, with the other strike for the national side coming from the in-form Bradley Grobler of SuperSport United.
