Vilakazi: We Let The Country Down

Midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi says Bafana Bafana let the people of South Africa down by failing to progress to the next round of the Chan competition.

Bafana lost 3-1 to Nigeria in the last Sunday and crashed out the Chan.

“The people of South Africa believed in us, that’s why they came out in numbers to support us on Saturday, but we let them down,” Vilakazi told the Siya crew.

“I still can’t believe that we are out of the Chan competition. We wanted to do well in the competition, but we just couldn’t get it right against Nigeria. We’re all disappointed about our display in that game, but there’s no use crying about it now.

“We need to focus on doing well in future competitions like the Afcon and also try to qualify for the next World Cup in 2018,” added Vilakazi.

Meanwhile, Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula reportedly slammed Bafana Bafana following their failure to qualify to the next round of the competition.
