The Siya crew can reveal that Sifiso Vilakazi is set to double up as a player and assistant coach at National First Division side, Sivutsa Stars.
This comes after news that the club parted ways with MacDonald Makhubedu, who served as assistant coach. According to our sources at the club, Makhubedu was let go three weeks ago and word is that Stars might appoint veteran striker Sifiso Vilakazi to fill his void and be the right hand man to John Tlale.
Vilakazi joined the club back in September, following a frustrating spell at AmaZulu and a subsequent failed trial stint at Bloemfontein Celtic. His experience is seen as vital in the club’s quest to achieve their ambitions this season.
Contacted for comment, the 34-year-old Vilakazi said, “Ha, ha, ha, eish, news travels so fast! Yes, MacDonald has left the team. Yes, it looks like I will double up as a player-assistant coach, but it’s not been finalised. We are still talking.”
