Victory Amuses Free State Stars Coach
Free State Stars head coach, Luc Eymael, is delighted that his team came back from a loss over the weekend and secured a midweek victory.
Having lost 3-0 against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Free State derby on Sunday, Stars went on to defeat SuperSport United 1-0 in their game last night (Wednesday).
The first half goal was by former Kaizer Chiefs striker Siphelele Mthembu, was enough to earn Ea Lla Koto the three Absa Premiership points at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem.
“You know, we were disappointed with the performance (after) the Celtic game. After the game, we had a small discussion and we had to come back. The players were aware that we needed to take a step forward.
“So, I said again on Monday that we had to forget about that game and had to work harder in preparation for the game on Wednesday. That’s what we did yesterday,” Eymael told the Siya crew.
The Belgian tactician believes that his team dominated against Matsatsantsa.
“We completely deserved the win. We had better chances to score more goals. SuperSport didn’t have one chance to score in the first half and they only had two chances in the second half.
“In the first half, we had five big chances and we scored one. In the second half, we had two or three one-on-one situations from counter-attacks but we were not clinical in the box,” concluded the coach.
Stars are scheduled to host Orlando Pirates on Saturday in their last game of 2017.
