Vincent Pule could be set to break the goalscoring record of Orlando Pirates teammate, Luvuyo Memela.
Memela walked away with Bucs’ Golden Boot last season at the club's end of the season awards after scoring five goals for coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team.
The attacking midfielder, who also bagged seven assists for the Soweto giants last season, scored his goals from 22 appearances (18 starts and four substitutes) he made for the side as they went on to finish the season in second place on the log behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
So far this season, Pule has scored three goals from eight appearances (all starts) in the league and he is joint second on the PSL's top goalscoring charts, while Memela has yet to open his scoring account as he recently returned from injury.
Unless Memela or another Pirates player scores goals regularly to overtake Pule, it seems like the 26-year-old former Bidvest Wits star could well be on course for the club's Golden Boot this season.
Pule, who was also recently rewarded with a Bafana Bafana call-up for Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya in their most recent match, has been in impressive form for Bucs since joining the club from Wits.
While talking to the Siya crew at the start of the season, former Pirates striker Andries Sebola predicted a great future for Pule at the Soweto giants.
