Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede has taken some time off to enjoy the off-season in Spain. Verbauwhede is still waiting on his official PSL debut since signing for Sundowns in March.
“He is on holiday in Spain. He will be back next week. He will come back and work in the gym in preparation of next season. They will be leaving for Ghana for pre-season,” a source close to the player revealed.
The Belgian will find strong competition in the team’s goalkeeping department on his return from holiday.
The Brazilians are expected to have him, Wayne Sandilands, Dennis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Thela Ngobeni all vying for the number one jersey in Pitso Mosimane’s team.
Verbauwhede has previously played for K.V. Kortrijk and K.V.C Westerlo in Belgium. He will be back in South Africa in time for Sundowns’ trip to Ghana in July.
