Cape Town City assistant coach Vasili Manousakis believes referee Victor Gomes stole the show during their loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

City missed the opportunity to close the gap on the runaway leaders in Friday’s top-of-the-table clash as they lost 1-0.
“I’m afraid to say the ref stole the show tonight. Tonight was the Victor Gomes show!” Manousakis told SuperSport after the game.
“How (Denis) Onyango wasn’t sent off in the first half baffles everyone. (Thabo) Nodada landed with 20 stitches on his leg and he goes and sent (Robyn) Johannes off for something soft and bizarre.
“Anyway, it doesn’t matter. (We) should’ve got something more out of the game,” he said.
With regards to their title ambitions after Downs stretched the gap to seven points, Benni McCarthy’s assistant believes they are completely out of the reckoning and should focus on cementing a top eight spot.
“No, that’s us done. (We) just got to try and stay in the top five. Benni’s mandate was the top eight at the start of the season and hopefully we’ll achieve that,” he said.
Zimbabwean Khama Billiat fired home a stunner from inside the box, but despite going down, Manousakis believes they had Downs on the ropes.
“It’s unbelievable how we lost this game. It was one-way traffic in the first half. We absolutely murdered Sundowns. They looked very average.
“We made a mistake and they went down the line and scored. Other than that, Sage Stephens didn’t have any saves to make. Absolute bizarre. That’s football for you,” he said.
