University Sport South Africa were crowned SAB U21 Champions after securing a 2-0 win over Free State on Saturday afternoon.
Both goals arrived in the second half, as strikes from Tebogo Galane and Katlego Banda secured the victory over the two-time champions, who made the final for the third successive year.
The week-long tournament saw 250 players undergo the Complete Player Programme, which aims to provide key life skills for young footballers, as they prepare for life as professional athletes.
SAB’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Transformation, Mr. Bongumusa Makhathini, has expressed his delight with the way the tournament has been run.
“We are indeed satisfied with how the 2016 season of the league turned out. We introduced new and innovative methods of maturing our offering to football development and today was a celebration of how the SAB League remains the leading grassroots football development tournament in the country. We look forward to yet another season of demonstrating our commitment to football development,” Makhathini said in a press release.
