University of Pretoria midfielder Mpho Maruping is set to commence training with his teammates next week.
As previously reported by the crew, Maruping sustained an eye injury during training at the beginning of last month. He underwent surgery to repair his fractured eye after the ball struck his eye.
According to the club’s media officer, Pearl Mosoane, the Tembisa-born player is slowly recovering although his sight is still blurry for now.
“Mpho is still not fine or ready to play. He’s starting training next week though and we’ll see how he responds because he hasn’t done any physical training. He’s able to see but it’s still blurry. I think he’ll need some time to recover as he hasn’t been active.
“We’re not sure about how long will he take because you’ll remember he hasn’t played a competitive game. The doctors suggested that we see how he responds to training,” said Mosoane.
The 23-year old player will hope to recover quickly and commence with his football for the Tshwane-based club.
