A four team tournament is currently underway at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. The tournament is being hosted by Maritzburg United to give fringe first team players a chance, as well as to assess some young players from the various clubs' youth development wings.
The four teams involved in the tournament are Golden Arrows, Free State Stars, Maritzburg City and the Team of Choice.
In the first semi-final of the tournament, United defeated City 2-0. The second semi-final involving Free State Stars and Golden Arrows will also take place this afternoon, with a final to be held later on today.
This was confirmed to the Siya crew by Maritzburg Reserve Team coach, Daniel Haswell.
He said, "Yes, the four team tournament is taking place at the Harry Gwala Stadium. Some of my boys from the reserve team are involved with the first team squad. In the first game of the day we beat Maritzburg City in the first semi-final."
