United FC Goalkeeper, Majola, Murdered
National First Division outfit, United FC's goalkeeper, Gatsha Majola, has been murdered near Pretoria.
The body of the 31-year-old was discovered on Tuesday morning after he was apparently kidnapped, driven around in a kombi before being killed and burnt.
Club’s General Manager, George Mogomotsi, confirmed the terrible news to Soccer Laduma.
“It’s bad," he said. “I’m visiting the family tomorrow to get the whole story and to pass on our condolences. He was visiting his aunt in Soshanguve, that’s where the whole thing happened. Gatsha stayed at our clubhouse in Garankuwa, but his hometown was Wattville, Benoni."
“When you tell these footballers to take care of themselves in the off-season, you never know what’s going to happen.”
According to a source, Majola was amongst a group of three men taken in broad daylight.
“The family is so distraught, it was a case of mistaken identity,” said a source. “It’s very sad. He was full of jokes, always made his teammates laugh at both training and camping. He was jolly to have.”
The tall Majola also represented African Warriors at one point.
Soccer Laduma wishes to extend their deepest condolences to the Majola family.
