Bantwana Eye WC Qualification Against Botswana

The U17 Women’s National team, Bantwana has set its focus on qualifying for next year’s World Cup in the wake of the recent success enjoyed by other women’s national teams.

Head coach Simphwe Dludlu, says her team is focused on their qualifier against Botswana scheduled to be played this coming Friday in Lobatse.

“This year has been a very significant year for women’s football in South Africa. We draw inspiration from the Senior Women’s National Team, Banyana Banyana who won the COSAFA. The U20 team Basestana have paved the way and set an example us as they are also making headway in their qualification campaign,” said Dludlu to the South African Football Association website.

“We have also had to endure the same challenges as the U20s with some of our players writing exams, however, it’s important that we focus on the job at hand so that we don’t disappoint ourselves, our families, the supporters and the FA.

“It’s about grinding the results we need in order to qualify for the World Cup next year. The last time we qualified was seven years ago which is not enough if you consider that fact that we are a footballing nation.

“I’m confident in the effort we have put into our preparations ahead of facing Botswana,” concluded the U17 mentor.

Bantwana are currently in camp preparing for their away encounter against neighbouring Botswana this coming Friday with the team scheduled to depart on Wednesday for the match.

The SA U17 Women’s national team has only ever qualified for the tournament on one occasion and will look to secure a berth at the sixth edition of the tournament which will be played in Uruguay in November 2018.
