U17 African Championship Qualifier
Result: Tanzania 2-0 South Africa (3-1 on aggregate)
Date: 21 August 2016
Venue: Chamazi Complex
Amajimbos failed to qualify for the U17 African Youth Championships, after they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Tanzania in the final round of qualifying.
The sides came into the encounter with the tie evenly poised, following their 1-1 draw in the first leg.
The home side were in control from the onset, as they went in search of the opening goal at the Chamazi Complex.
Amajimbos were on the back foot for most of the half, as they managed to clear a few goal-bound efforts off the line.
Tanzania were rewarded for their dominance after 35 minutes when Mohamed Abdallah fired past Glen Baadjies to put the hosts 2-1 up on aggregate.
However, the home side were reduced to 10 men on the stroke of halftime when Ally Ng'anzi was given an early shower for a second bookable offence.
Molefi Ntseki's charges threw everything forward in search of an equalsier, although they struggled to carve out clear-cut chances.
Unfortunately, the South Africans could not bypass the Tanzanian defence as the half drew to a close despite the numerical advantage.
The hosts sealed the win in the 84th minute after a swift counter attack to seal qualification to the youth championship.
Here's how they lined up:
Starting XI: Baadjies, Fleurs, Mavuso, Monyane, Le Roux, Monyane, De Jager, Shinga, Ntuli, Mkhize, Mchilizeli, Radzilane
Substitutes: Mohui, Bophela, Pillay, Makoena, Radebe, Mazibuko, Dladla
