Ntokozo Sikhakhane, who played as a midfielder for AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs among other clubs in his professional career, as well as former Orlando Pirates striker, Phumudzo Manenzhe, have been given important roles to perform during the event.

“Usuthu will take on city rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows on 23 June 2018 in the We Are One Festival under the banner of breaking down ethnic barriers that have plagued South Africa in the recent past,” confirmed AmaZulu in a statement on the club’s official website.

The festival was launched yesterday (Wednesday) in Durban.

“According to organisers, the football match between Usuthu and Abafana Bes’thende will get the ball rolling ahead a plethora of festivities over two days lined up at the Princess Magogo Stadium. A rugby match between the Cell C Sharks and the Cheetahs will be played on the same day,” confirmed Usuthu.

“We are very much honoured as AmaZulu FC, to be part of the festival, it is such a wonderful vision. The role that we have in our hands as a football club is quite big, it extends to serving in the community, so social cohesion as it is, starts with us as football brands by being the difference and encouraging the public,” said AmaZulu’s Brilliant Mkhathini.
