The two ABC Motsepe League sides to clinch promotion to the National First Division have been revealed.
KwaZulu-Natal’s Uthongathi and the Free State's Super Eagles will be playing in the NFD next season after finishing top of their respective play-off groups.
Eagles finished top of Group A, finishing ahead of Acornbush United on goal difference. While Uthongathi finished to of Group B.
Eagles coach, Tshegofatso Mashego expressed his joy securing promotion to the second tier of South African football.
“Playing in such competitions requires you to be very smart and highly tactical. We didn’t play fancy football even though we know how to. Our objective was plain and simple – score as much as possible and try not to concede and I think we did that quite well,” Mashego told SAFA's official website.
“We got to the Promised Land because of a better goal difference, in fact it was just one goal and it was the one that mattered. I am so excited, and I am also happy for my boys, they played like champions throughout the tournament. It’s thanks to them we achieved our goal, but we still have a job to do on Sunday in the final so we will celebrate thoroughly afterwards.”
