University of Pretoria have decided against taking Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wandisile Letlabika into their ranks, who has since returned to Chloorkop.
AmaTuks were expected to have the 23-year-old on loan from Downs after their former loanee, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, was recalled to the Brazilians’ camp by coach Pitso Mosimane.
Mphahlele had an impressive spell with the PSL new boys and his departure left a void at the back. Letlabika was expected to fill that gap, however the Steve Barker-coached outfit has since signed Siyabonga Ngubane on loan.
The team’s assistant coach, Sammy Troughton, confirmed to the Siya crew that they have decided not to sign Letlabika. Meanwhile, the club is looking to improve the contracts of some of their current squad members.
The likes of Ayanda Lubelo, Pogiso Mahlangu, Bongani Zungu and Thokozani Sekotlong, who’s current deals vary from one-year to two-years, are all set to be rewarded with contract extensions.
However, Troughton explained that the club in no rush to complete the new contracts.
