There will be no love lost when new Orlando Pirates defender, Tshepo Gumede travels with the Bucs squad to take on former side Platinum Stars on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14, at the Royal Bofokeng Stadium.
Pirates duo to shine against former side?
The Bucs centre back has declared that he is relishing playing against his former side, where he won two trophies in the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 against his current employers.
“I would relish the opportunity to play against my former team,” Gumede told his club’s website.
“This is a team I have a lot of respect for, for the way they gave me an opportunity to play in the PSL but now I am a Pirates player and I want to do all in my power to repay the faith they have shown in me.”
“We know Rustenburg is really hot and obviously Platinum Stars will be using the heat as a weapon but we have been working hard at training on our fitness and conditioning, so I believe we will be up for the challenge,” added the defender.
Gumede had to sit out his side's 2015 opener in midweek against AmaZulu due to a one match suspension and, will be hoping he gets a run against Dikwena on Saturday.
The match will start at 15h30.
