Seemingly Unhappy Hunt Comments On Transfer Window

Gavin Hunt is seemingly not a happy coach! With a number of his star players linked an exit, Hunt has suggested, “The (transfer) window should be closed before the first game (of the season).”

 Does Hunt have a point?

The English Premier League took the bold step, closing its transfer window before the start of the season. Encouraging early business, they did away with the confusion of late deals and unsettled squads at the beginning of the season.

Let’s have a look at how leagues around the world have set their transfer windows to close:

European Leagues

Germany, Italy, Spain and France are all closing their windows on the 2nd of September 2019. Portugal is the outlier, closing their window on the 22nd of September.

Countries that buck the trend

Eygpt, Morocco, Turkey and the DR Congo, will close their transfer windows in late October, bucking the European trend.

Other Parts Of The World

Shutting the window on 30th October in the United Arab Emirates and 17th October in Mexico, leagues around the world have followed the African trail.

From these dates, it’s clear that dates are not the same from around the football world.

With the Premier Soccer League window is set to close on the 2nd of September, our league seems to agree with the Europeans.

Do you think that Gavin Hunt is concerned because no less than three of his core players, in Thabang Morane, Cole Alexander and Thulani Hlatshwayo, are wanted by some of his PSL rivals?
