PSL Confirm Transfer Window Dates
The Premier Soccer League will open its transfer window in a few weeks’ time, with clubs around the country looking to bolster their ranks for the new season.
With Bidvest Wits having lifted the Absa Premiership trophy over the weekend, the top-flight came to an end for a few months, however, the promotion/relegation playoffs between Baroka FC, Stellenbosch and Black Leopards are yet to be completed.
While some clubs have already started their wheeling and dealing ahead of the new campaign, they will only be allowed to register players with the league once the window opens in July.
The PSL confirmed to the Siya crew today that South Africa’s window will open up on July 1st and close on August 31st, with teams having 62 days to complete the registration of any players signed from elsewhere.
As always, free agents are not affected by the window and can sign at any stage, regardless of the date.
With South Africa’s ‘Big Three’ of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns all finishing 2016/17 without domestic silverware, it is expected to be a busy window this year, with all of the clubs looking to pry the league title away from Braamfontein.
