Chaos As Ajax Verdict Reshuffles League Table
The PSL Table Has Changed After The Ajax Verdict
The Absa Premiership has been plunged into chaos just one day before the relegation play-offs were due to get underway, with Ajax Cape Town the biggest casualties.
After months of back and forth regarding the eligibility of Tendai Ndoro, who has played for three clubs this season, the South African Football Association today confirmed that Ajax forfeit their wins against SuperSport United and Platinum Stars, as well as their draw with Polokwane City.
It was decided that 3-0 wins would be handed to all three of the clubs, effectively docking Ajax seven points, with three points being given to their appealing teams. This would mean that the Urban Warriors drop down to 16th and Dikwena go 15th.
Meanwhile, the victory for SuperSport means that they climb up the table to seventh place – securing an MTN8 spot – while AmaZulu got caught in the crossfire as they fall down to the eighth spot. Polokwane, meanwhile, will move from 13th to 11th.
Given the points changes, the lower half of the Absa Premiership table now looks as follows:
7. SuperSport - 39
8. Arrows - 38
9. AmaZulu - 38
10. Chippa - 37
11. Celtic - 37
12. Polokwane - 36
13. Wits - 36
14. Baroka - 34
15. Platinum Stars - 27
16. Ajax - 24
It remains to be seen whether Ajax will appeal the decision, which also saw them fined R150,000 for the league games.
